We bought eight billion dollars of copper abroad last year when we could be or nearly be self sufficient...and create well paying new jobs.

Hope you can afford the price of gas or diesel getting there.

Prevented another ExxonMobil Valdez 1000 times over. Exploring, drilling, and production of oil is a dirty business. Take that from someone who grew up and worked in the oil patch. There are plenty of leases in the US that they can drill without this one. You can take that from someone who lives in a state that is totally leased by oil companies including offshore.

I remember when the alaska pipeline was being built hearing folks crying how it would destroy all the caribou by blocking their travel routes.
Then when I saw it I saw caribou hugging the pipeline, they werent afraid of it, it provided a windbreak in some spots, and since the oil is kept at 140 degrees, it ended up saving thousands from freezing.
Saving the wildlife is a fallacy in many cases, and good fodder to feed the misinformed. Usually the same people who would block the safest method of moving oil (pipeline) and force the same oil to travel by rail or barge.

In tje mid 80s I worked at Cullaton Lake gold mine ( google earth it, Wikipedia it) in the Keewatin district of Canadas NW Territory.
The mine was on the transition between the barrens of the arctic and the boreal forest
Everything went in or out by air. The airstrip and the 5 km road to the mill and camp were a wildlife haven for caribou, arctic hares, Lemming, Moose and myriad other creatures.
Roads gave all those creatures an easy trail to migrate on, a fast trail to outrun predators like wolves and Inuit hunters ( thats the native people they are not eskimos)
Leave it to the people who have science and depend on the land to survive.

Diesel, near me, is $2.43. I sure can't wait to pay $5, the way things are going.

I've been to ANWR. You arent missing much. Most impressive mosquitos i have ever seen in my life and i've spent considerable time on the gulf coast post hurricanes. Kaktovik is a hole.
Try to see it by helicopter if you can. Sadlerochit Mtns are fun. Grayling fishing was beyond excellent.
