No DC power even when plugged in help PLEASE

WFCOs are known for their cheapness. They're fine if you usually camp where there's power, but they're known for not fully charging batteries.

You might look into replacing the whole power center. No experience with these, but there's a suggested replacement here. They say it will fit in the existing cutout.

The Progressive Dynamics ones have a good reputation, but I don't know if they have a drop-in replacement.

Buddy of mine let me remove an older unit to try out and I hooked it up and all is well. Doesn't fit though as my compartment is only 12x4x7. So,

Is 55 watts. Other than charging the battery faster will that have any ill effects? Anyone have any experience with a WFCO unit?

Makes me think. Isn't the battery after the converter? When it's plugged in, even if the battery is junk, the lights should still work right?

Short answer is no.

If the battery has an internal short, it can act like a monster size resistor, and draw more power without holding any charge, than the power sent from the converter. Little to nothing gets through to power DC equipment.

I've had this happen in a truck camper. With battery connected and shore power hooked up, I had no DC power to lights, radio, water pump, etc. With battery disconnected and shore power hooked up, all DC equipment worked fine. I even found the DC equipment was working off my solar panel, with no battery or shore power.

When you go shopping for a meter, take your battery and have it load tested. Most auto part stores will do it free of charge.

Sounds like a converter issue to me - would explain why your battery was dead and why no lights when plugged in. I would get meter and test voltage output -also use meter to test fuse for continuity (sometimes they are bad even when they look OK).

Yes. That little glass tube fuse was good too. Good thought. Think I'll order a 45 watt one from amazon.

On the fridge breaker. It is. I think the charger/converter is shot. No juice leaving it.

You need to also check to see if the converter is getting 120 volt power to convert to 12 volt. Which breaker is the converter on.

I won't say "all," but converters will usually provide power even without a battery connected. But, your battery obviously was connected - when you hooked up jumper cables right at the battery, lights came on.

So, I'm really suspicious of the power converter section (the circuit board sitting in the bottom). I see a glass fuse in the lower right corner under the fan - does that look blown? DISCONNECT THE AC POWER BEFORE POKING AROUND.

When you get your meter - it looks like the battery is connected to the large red wire right above the right side fan (positive) and one of the white wires in the upper right (ground). The output of the converter should be the yellow wire coming in from the top (positive) and the other white wire.

Disconnected the battery to put on a trickle charger to see if I can bring it back. Lol. Still no lights or D.C. Power. The pic fans are spinning in the converter area, but no juice. Would being plugged in to shore power usually also power D.C.? I am thinking it's the converter. If that's the case I see this;
