*NO* Labor Day Horror stories!

We had #3. Seem to have transitioned to a domestic around 4:30am. 10pm quiet time and zero enforcement. Lots of fun!

#4 doesn't count when all the hollering is happy noise. Had a few barking dogs when they had a reason to bark.

Relived "youthful" memories while camping with my brother and SIL, my 83-yr. old dad, and DW. Returned to the same CG where we all camped 15-16 years ago while attending a family reunion on Labor Day. CG sponsored a bingo tournament, a "duck race", and a DJ dance with door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Being "semi-retired", my DW and I could plan our travel times, with Dad as our guest, to avoid the nasty traffic problems Friday evening and Monday. CG was full, but we were in a relatively quiet area, neighbors and kids were very friendly. Considering Dad's age, and the fact that he's the only surviving parent/grandparent in any of our families, this weekend was all about spending some of this precious time we have remaining with him. Three nights of campfires, smores, dominoes, and visiting relatives ... he couldn't stop reliving how great the memories had always been, and what a great weekend this was. Here's a toast to holiday weekend memories, past, present, and hopefully, future!!!

We were in Fort Pickens for Labor Day weekend. We had a wonderful time. From Friday thru Monday, the park was packed with not a campsite to be had. Everyone there was perfectly congenial and very well mannered and behaved. We had such a good time that, on the way home, I boohooed because I didn't ever want to leave.

Camped at a new pad I put in the week before at a small farm we bought. Nice and quiet till we let the grands shoot some targets with a .22 rifle. Great fun driving the golf cart and riding the tractor to cut the grass.

Seems the *NO* Horror Stories are ahead in either one.

Anyway - friends coming down from No.CA for the IndyCar race Saturday night at Fontana (So.CA).
Share the ride - but no need for us to camp.

They camped at campground off the 91 freeway in Orange County.
Went to visit on Friday night - very mellow.
No drunks, screaming kids, pooping dogs, etc.

But.....We hear on the news that Fontana is expecting 150,000 spectators at the race Saturday night!

Hoo Boy! Yikes!..:R

Get ready for traffic nightmares, and Horror stories!!..:(
Need to take the 91 to the I-15...which is the road for L.A.to Vegas travelers, Colorado River rats, etc. - and the surrounding counties = 20 MILLION population!
Doom and Gloom?

Was a piece of cake! 70+mph all the way. Same for the return.
(NO 150K spectators at the race - maybe 40-50K)
Campers had gone to bed by the time we return - about 11:30PM.

Back again on Sunday.
Just as mellow as before.
No.CA friends say it was that way entire weekend.

Traffic was beauteous on Monday!
Left exit 62 on I-95/CT at 10:07 AM with 3 under 9 y/olders in tow. Assumed it would be hours of backseat whining and bathrm requests but we whizzed through both of the regular I-95 traffic jam stops (New Haven and Stamford) and NYC's Westside Hghwy in excellent time. Arrived back at the campground at 2:42 PM, put on our suits and went for an ocean swim.

As far as noise....it was us on Saturday night:E. Kiddos went to bed around 10:30 PM after watching a movie at the camp's amphitheater.

Adults chatted around the camp fire until 2:30 AM with no music until a guest pulled out his mp3 player filled with Polish Eurovision contestants. The music was interesting as background noise until he got to some of his favorite artists and up went the volume. Since he was 6 sheets to the wind his speaking voice went up as well. We hustled him off to bed after he stated my soon to be ex daughter in law was a good woman who he'd like to marry:h.

None of the above!

Stayed at 4-mile creek state park on Lake Ontario. The place was jammed to capacity but you hardly noticed. It's a big park and lots of room. Had a great time and would definitely return.
