actually I am a little "torn" deciding where to park. If I park in a HC place, no one else can use it. if I park in an adjacent non HC spot, no preggers lady,or anybody old and infirm with no HC sticker, can use it.

I am living with half a heart after a heart rupture 7 years ago. Last year my DW was rendered quadriplegic after a neck surgery for biopsy of a tumor in her spinal cord. We are both only 64 years old. A couple of months ago I decided to sell our beloved RV as I just couldn't see how I could make it work with her new disability. We also needed the cash to help pay for the home health care workers she requires daily. This was NOT how we planned to spend our senior years. I still visit here daily in the hopes that someday I can get on the road and enjoy this great pastime. I also try to impart what I have learned when I feel I have something appropriate to contribute.

Sorry to hear of the rough times you're having. Have you checked into cabin rentals?

Here in PA the cabins are quite nice and usually one or two in each part are specifically handicap accessible.

No setup and many have electric heat, running water, inside bathroom with shower, small kitchen/dining area, etc. Our uncle is almost 90yrs old and still camps at the cabins while we take our RV to the same park ;)

There are many of us out there that are not 100%. I have needed a walker for 10u years and carry a Travel Scoot electric scooter in my roadtrek when travelling. It folds to fit under my bed from the rear door and only weighs 30#. Since I also can't get low enough to operate valves for dumping I had a macerator pump installed so I can just sit on my walker seat and work the valves and switch from the seat. Got many miles on last summer with trips to Northern Ontario twice, Boston, MA. Chetek, WI. and a few small trips. I am not handicapped that bad yet but a Roadtrek does let me use handicapped spots when avavilable.

I'll probably be in here more often soon. Having both knees replaced this winter... left in December, then right in January. Kinda wanted both done at the same time, or at least within a week or two, to reduce the "rehab" time. Hoping (and assuming) I'll be up and about by March at the latest.

Doctor is basically refusing to do both at the same time since it is not an emergency. I kinda laughed, and said it is because in case something goes wrong with the first one, the second one will still be an "original", and he sort of smiled and said yes.

So we'll see what happens. Reading positive posts like that from Dutchmensport helps keep my confidence up!

Due to a severe heart attack (Widowmaker) in March of 2012 I had to stop full time RVing in July 2012. I went and had more tests done and found that I have CHF, Ischemia, Artherolcerosis,along with COPD, I was a smoker; my bad! I also have degenerative disc disease in my neck spine and lumber spine. As we age, I'm 66+ now, I didn't have jobs that had health care so didn't take to good care of myself. I have improved in the last 5+ years after I found out I qualified for Veterans Health care, but not enough to any moderate exercise. Just don't give up and set in that danged rocking chair. Gert out as much as possible and smell the Roses!

Thank you. We are just a year into this strange journey so we are still figuring out how to survive. Hopefully soon we can transition to figuring out how to live. Quadriplegia brings lots of challenges and even a visit to a coffee shop requires a lot of preplanning. We are figuring it out and have hope that one day we can regain some normalcy in our lives. I too am uplifted from the positivity I read in this post. My wife is the poster child for smiling through adversity. I don't think I could have handled all we have on our plate without that.

I'm glad most of you folks are doing relatively well. Due to partial paralysis in left leg and complete paralysis in left arm, I'm not in any condition to continue RVing. I'm forced to live in an extended stay hotel now. I'd much rather be in an RV for all the reasons you folks are familiar with. Whenever I see one on the road my heart aches!

However, I do count my blessings. Being right handed, I'm glad only my left side was affected. In addition, I could have become a quadriplegic or even blinded, or had my brain so damaged I'd be a vegetable. And anything's better than being horizontal and room temp.;)
