We bought a stove top percolator and I can't figure out where the K-cup goes??? :) :) :)
Seriously, we'd had aluminum and SS and both work fine. As mentioned, the handle is important to dissipate heat when pouring. Also, if top is hinged it can't fall of while pouring.
If all you have if drip grind coffee, you can use a plain white paper towel to rig up a pretty decent filter for the basket you put the coffee in...otherwise you can get a good many grounds in your cup. Just push the center over the center pipe, push paper towel into the basket, add grounds and then fold each corner and push through the center pipe. Not only does this keep grounds from getting into your coffee, it makes emptying grounds and clean up easier.
