Not A Good Welcome

Getting warranty work done at Lazy Days so at 10am we secured a campsite at the Lazy Days CG. Got the fiver back around 5pm, drove to assigned site, backed in, got power plugged in, and was in the process of lowering front gear.

Gentleman from neighboring Class A walks over to the side of my fiver which normally I would consider a friendly gesture. Except based on his disgusted expression and the fact he had his phone jammed in his ear didn't strike me as him being from the welcoming committee.

He stated "before you get too far there, my buddy has this site reserved". I start to inform Mr. Friendly that we were assigned the site by the office at 10am that morning and I would not be moving, but before I can get all that out he interrupts me and says "we reserved these 5 sites in a row three months ago".

By now I am not happy with this rude idiot with the phone growing out of his ear so I decide I am probably better off just ignoring him and I continue unhooking and setting up.

The DW is standing there, I think still in shock that his rude individual is even there, and he mentions again that the office assigned us the site for one night.

He puts the phone down and informs us that if it is for one night that would be okay then because his buddy isn't arriving until the next afternoon anyway.

I don't even know where to begin......I would like to think that when this guy went back to his rig either him, or his DW thought about what had just happened and were embarrassed by his behavior.

Precisely; though I would add 'the weak, insecure, and immature man'

Don't worry about it, you did the right thing.

Double ditto. I would add don't argue with an idiot as it's a waste of time and your vacay. I would tell them to talk to the office about it and proceed with my set up while ignoring him.
  • It's hard to talk on the phone and do anything else at the same time.
  • Congrats on the way you handled it... don't think I would have been as gracious. I doubt if he was embarrassed by what happened, probably just his normal, pathetic nature.

Know it's hard to just let it pass (been there, done that!) but as we all know, he is not the norm in the rving community.

We go to that campground a lot, various reasons, service, short get-a-ways.
Chances are that type of situation won't happen again if you are back in the area.

His DW needs sympathy.. :) Puts up with that 24/7.
  • I think you were very reserved about the whole thing and I hope I would have the patience to handle it the same way.
  • When faced with such rude people, just ask them if it be an brother to them if they could go get the coffees, since we are going to be here awhile sorting out their attitudes!
  • You can't fix rude/stupid.
Don't worry about it, you did the right thing.
  • Shame on him, He should have called the office, or asked how long you was gonna be here first. After all it's his problem.
  • Probably not - that is probably his normal personality. Some people don't know what courtesy it. It's me, me, me all the time.
