Again, I doubt anyone is making an effort to "spy" on me, but I do see the potential issue of this technology being used - both with spying/stalking and with the noise/visual pollution. That's why I think it's good to have these discussions and realize that there will need to be laws.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is the potential of pedophiles to use drones to take video of little kids without being noticed. A drone flying over a playground seems innocent enough. Until you find out who is flying the drone.
I'm not saying this is a major problem now, but I do think we need to put some effort into setting boundaries BEFORE it becomes a problem.
X2! and Theft.
The thieves and pervs will be the first to really utilize these. There was already a news story of a registered child sex offender using a drone near a home with children. :(
If you thought the internet gave them an avenue to do their deeds just wait.
Years ago, we had a rash of show horses stolen after myspace became popular. I have seen these thieves first hand in action.
People back then unknowingly and being a novice of the internet, talking about going to shows when how where what time what horses they were leaving behind. Proud pictures posted of their new horse ranches, new barns, inside and out, etc etc. Thinking they were just talking amoungst other horse friends........the thieves used all this info to get on the property which they now knew the whole layout before ever entering and thefts increased 10 fold.
Now, all the thieves have to do is send up a drone and they have everything they need to engage in a better planned break in and no internet/computer evidence left behind.
It is always the bad that ruin it for the good and the bad WILL use it. IMHO there really NEEDS to have some very strict laws in place VERY soon to protect our privacy, families AND personal property.
People don't need to be afraid they need to be 'prudent' about their safety and their family.
