Observation on rentals

Good insurance and the renters open ended credit card or a rider insurance policy on top of liability insurance.

I like rental rv people. I go out of my way to talk with them. And we own an X-rental. Our frig/freezer in ours was replaced before we bought. Maybe because of hard use? I know its worked fine since 2009. I use blocks of wood to get level when need be. Which isn't very often, just pick a place that's somewhat level to begin with. Last couple I talked to that was renting, was for their honeymoon.

We took a rental out for 4800 miles this summer. We only used the leveling blocks the last 2 days. Every time we stopped, I took out the level and if it was close, it was close enough.

The company I work for usually rents a TT for a trade show in September. I am always amazed at how beat up the rental is inside after 1 season. My last RV was in better shape inside after 15 years.

None of the 3 RVs I have rented from big name rental companies in the US/Canada since 2008 had levelling blocks supplied. Plus, many people who fly in and rent *are* actually new to RVing, or at least only do it every couple of years.

The fridge issue they will find out the next day...

And re. backing into a log: I just remember my first day ever in a rented Class C. We didn't back into anything, but some of the smaller trees in a supermarket parking lot near Phoenix may have lost some branches until we got it all mastered... ;-)

I own a former rental RV. They don't have leveling devices built in. I use those orange Lynx Levelers when I have to. And yes, if you are too un-level, the fridge will have an "A" error. I personally like sleeping with my head higher than my feet so if I am slightly un-level that way, that's OK. We all were newbies once upon a time. And I think that renting an RV for the first time is a great way to see if you like the RV thing or not.
