Observations from a week at the beach....

Disclaimer,

I have now officially turned into my Dad... a full fledged
"get off my lawn" curmudgeon... as such, please value these
observations as you do a grain of salt....

Phoenix to San Diego Coast... 8 nights glamping right on the
beach.

-Mid-grade unleaded... CA. $4.09 Az. $3.85. The Gas Buddy App
was helpful.

-best deal 12 pack of Stella for $13.00. Burp ! worst deal ...
had to make a trip to Camping World to purchase a Grey/black
water extension hose to be able to connect to oddly placed sewer
pipe.

-that's just nasty award... watched a Motor Home owner place his black water hose completely over the fresh water spigot to rinse it out... remember this the next time you hook your "fresh" water hose up to the connection .

-past stoopid award.... the camper that saw fit to place his empty small green Propane bottle in the camp receptacle marked "place your hot embers in here". Truth.

-Letter of the Law , if not the Spirit of the law award.... Lady who secured "Fluffy" on a 6 ft. lease (as required)and then "Fluffy" allowed to run free dragging the 6 ft. leash.

-Praise the inventor award... push button retractable 50 amp cable
creel, push button awning ext./retraction, and one touch empty grey/black water tank. Cheers !

-God Bless America award ... to all the campers that fly the flag
appropriately, and recognize their branch of service. I love that.

-Ought to be outlawed award.... anybody that chooses to burn green
eucalyptus.... or any version of Eucalyptus !

-Love the female form award..... nuff said. Will be glad when the enthrallment with tattoos goes away.... what a shame. Side comment - I'm glad I never had teenage daughters..... those little triangles of
material would have been cause for much dissension.

-Paula Dean Award for equality..... to the young African -American filling up at the gas station with the rap booming and every other word an F-bomb, use of "b" to describe Mother/girlfriend, and the "N"
screamed out in a continuous drone.... some day you will regret .

-Dog gone! award..... multiple winners..... 1)non-poop picker uppers..
easily recognized as the walkers not carrying baggies 2)the leave your dog at the campsite all day while you go play at the beach.... you know em' 60 foot extendable leads that get wrapped around every obstacle while the dog barks at every passer by for 8 hrs. 3) the owner that thinks kicking sand over the turd accomplishes "picking up the poop". 4)the Grand Marshall trophy goes to... the nimrod that placed their dogs fresh log in my fire pit.

-You'll learn award...... the young parents that let their beautiful toddler toe-head daughters dig with their plastic shovels around the black water connection pipe even after notified of the inherent badness.

-something ain't right award....... saw 3 of those plastic dome satellite dishes in various states of destruction along the sides on California freeways. hmmmm......

-I need to learn award........ TPMS worked correctly.... alarms too
often, soon ignored like Asian-Pacific Tsunami alarms..... I need too
hit the manual. Got to learn how much is too much/too little.

-Where the rubber meets the wallet award... (unscientific) daily walk thrus of the high turnover campground I estimate a 5-8:1 ratio of 2500HD to 3500HD (3/4 ton to 1 ton) pulling TT's or 5ver's

-Latest trend award.... appears many "toy -haulers" are being re-purposed with "toy" spaced becoming bars/bedrooms/workshops/play areas.

well, enough for now.... I have more stoopid awards , mostly for myself, but I come out looking bad in the end so I'll save and cherish those. .....

Best in Show award......... Mesquite grilled shrimp, fried clam fritters, flank steak burros and cold Stella. Can't wait to get back.

    Here are two more "beefs"...

People who forget their manners when they cross the border into Mexico and

    1. take their dogs into restaurants. Especially those that let them run loose in there, And...
    2. Smoke at the adjoining table with no regard to those of us who do not smoke!

We never refill our motorhome's fresh water tank using a source at an RV dump site ... we discovered a long time ago that these water sources are sometimes non-potable water for reasons other than the one you mention above. It's best to assume that "fresh water" at dump sites is only for flushing out RV dump hoses and/or rinsing down the immediate area.

    Yuma AZ. Two years ago.
The guy was working on his toilet outside. gotta' do what you gotta' do - right? Right
But doing it on the sites table???????? I don't think so. People just don't think.

  • It's pretty amazing that as you get older, your father gets smarter.
  • Deb and Ed....

My lovely bride started calling me Mr. Kravitz ! I don't think as a term of endearment...

  • LOL!! Thanks for sharing - great read!! RVing DOES make for some interesting "people-watching" - I rank it right up there with "hanging at the boat launch" :-)
