I've told this before - but it's still funny :-)
We were driving to Alaska from Michigan. We were barely across the border in Manitoba, stopped for gas, and my credit card was declined. Fuming, I called the card issuer to see what the problem was - the nice young man (definitely sounded American) says there are "out of area" charges on my card so they've put a "hold" on the account. I said "I called you 2 weeks ago to say we were driving to Alaska!" He replies "I see that note. Are you driving through Canada?"
Stunned silence - then I asked "Do you have an alternate route???"
