Oil for V6 Sprinter Engine

I got this answer when I asked a source if they could substitute 5W30 for their 0W30 in the "Oil change kit" and got this reply.
Marvin
"Mobil 5W30 and Mobil 5W40 no longer exist. They were both discontinued over a year ago, replaced by 0W30 for better fuel mileage."

The reason I made the post is that I just purchased the RV and drove it from Gainsville, FL to Jefferson, GA and I don't think it has the correct oil in it.nb
I called the dealer that I bought it from and he had no idea what oil was used nor could he find out. He just said the oil had been changed recently and was good for 10K miles. I looked at the window sticker and all it read was the change oil mileage and the change date. IT WAS ON A WIX STICKER, so I was immediately alarmed. I only drove 360 or so miles so I'm changing the oil asnd filter before and trips.
It will be the 0W30 Mobil 1 ESP Formula M with the HU 821 Mann filter.
    Thanks for your help.

That would be my first source of info for any vehicle,,,instead of strangers on the internet

  • You basically look at a a chart to figure out what weight oil you use in the area of the country (temps!) you are in. I put 0W40 in most Benz motors unless it specifically calls for something else. But going by the chart you could run just about any weight oil.

  • As well as regular mobil 1, many variants of Mobil1 as well as conventional mobil oil

I have a Guardian by Generac, Propane 3.4KW in mine. I haven't read up on the subject so I'm not sure what oil to use. It would be nice if I could carry one brand/type oil for both engines.

  • Better tell Walmart as they still sell 5W30 in both synthetic and conventional
