old school observation.... tire whacker
Observed this weekend...18 wheeler operator using a metal rod , strolled around his rig... whacked each tire. No TPMS, no digital tire pressure gauge. The man makes a living driving big rigs. Hm...

Is it just me or is this thread all black and white about how thumping should be used IN LIEU OF a pressure monitoring system?
Indeed a walk around is important for a WHOLE LOT OF STUFF BEYOND TIRE PRESSURE, and if you can sense pressure with your thumper...more power too you.
But, if you pick up a nail on the way your tire thumping might start becoming invalid over the next 5 to 50 minutes...
...For that case, bring on the electronics and idiot lights.
What your tire pressure WAS when you thumped...is no longer.
