On demand hot water, to replace regular 6 gal tank unit

thanks again all, I wound up installing an LP only unit, and its running fine. the floor was quite the mess but I managed a complete rebuild. I may detail in another post.

I was checking out on demand that could be hooked up to campsite water. I found an Eco temp. It has pretty good ratings from owners. There are higher capacity. Also, if camping on a river or lake a pump (with filter) could also provide the water to the heater. I also heard of some shower heads that provide a good output with very little water. Forget the name, but it was discussed on a B conversion group on this list.

well its worse than I expected. a ton of water damage, mold and super soft plywood. so my friend JJ and I took to ripping out the floor (had to pull the furnace as well). Oh, btw, we decided to just get a 6 gallon LP only water heater, the old one had electric as well, but that saved $150. check out the inprocess job.... yuck!

does anyone know where to get this stuff? - looks like a thin plywood laminated with 1.5" Styrofoam in between? we are thinking of just using mobile home trailer paneling with the smooth side facing the ground, then put a 1.5" layer of foam, then 3/4 plywood on top. finish it all off with some thin glue down carpet. and seal up the bottom underside.... with....??? not sure yet

I '''HAD''' the Girard tankless in my new 5ver. got rid of it fast for a 6 gallon replacement.

we could not get it to work well. we have a 7 year old daughter. one thing the water did was go from hot to cold instantly. I was super worried about her being burned in that shower. GONE fast. Heck I got burned in it :)

whatever it was with this tankless, it didn't work well for us. I love a regular old water heater in the 5ver. with the new unit there is no worries now.

I have the Girard Tankless Water Heater and I love it! I have not had a problem with it. You do need an oxygenics shower head with it and there is a learning curve to the TWH. I would not want an RBV without it now that I have worked my way through the learning curve.

I hope things are not too bad for your friend. You are doing a wonderful thing helping them.

Here ya go. Atwood Tankless

Atwood is supposed to have a tankless unit out that doesn't have the problems of the Girard, but last time I heard, they are having parts sourcing issues. It fits in a four gallon bay, as well as larger ones.

Dunno when it will hit the market though.

going to check out what he has tonight. I'm thinking just find an exact replacement. we'll see...
