Onan genset, old tech, too loud.

I am typing this about 10 feet from my MH. We are dry camped, and I need a couple of hours of battery charging. No solar, but we are in deep cover anyway. This is the first time I've ever let the Onan 4000 run for a long period of time, with me sitting outside the MH. (On the curb side, not the genset side.) Usually I just fire it up to run the microwave, coffee maker, etc.

This noise is ridiculous. I feel like a heel, putting out all this noise. Not to mention the gas consumption. You mean to tell me this is the best they can do? When oh when will Honda or Yamaha make an RV-install version of a 3000 inverter quiet genset?

Yes, I could carry a small inverter genset. It might come to that. But I should not have to.
