My Pop used to say "you can tell what kind of a camper a guy was if he was hangin' lights off his awning" and of course when I started RV'ing I went all over looking for the Ol' Man's "tacky tiki lights" he used but there all gone so I opted for a more modern approach and went for rope lights bought at Lowes

wich I used these slide-in hangers

from Wally-world that I spaced out evenly along the awning tube and "crimped" the s-hook gently around the rope light so I can hang them or take or them down in just a few minutes just by feeding the hangers in the slot of the tube and pulling them across! I find they gives a nice yellowish glow that illuminates the whole awning area very well, I also ran a 18' length back and fourth under my steps (wich lighted them up perfectly at night)

and under the glass top of my bar also I ran a 48' string around the inside of our 10x12' gazebo

wich does a perfect job for entertaining and just the perfect amount of brightness for playing L.R.C or cards! I tried the newer LED rope lights but I hated the "white light" they give off and the soft yellow "glow" is easy on the eye and most importantly doesn't bugger-up your night-vision as much and I don't find the burn too much electricity so all-in-all they are a perfect choice for me!
