Well, DW & I are planning to see the Oregon coast this summer. Leaving Calgary, AB with our 5th wheel the last week of June and have three weeks to get back. Plan is to 'overnight' in Spokane and then head to Canon Beach for a few days. Do some day trips / sight seeing from there, then head down the coast to Brookings and do the same there. So I'm looking for some feedback or suggestions from you fine folks who know the area.We're considering Canon Beach RV Resort in Canon Beach, and Whaleshead Beach Resort in Brookings. Any feed back or alternate suggestions???Also, looking for an alternate route back (probably more 'in-land') so as to see some different scenery / sights... any recommendations???Thanks in advance for your input.

The Oregon Coast is a fantastic RV destination. We spend A LOT of time there. The two parks you listed are good ones...We like the state parks in Oregon which are all first rate. The ones on the Coast (there are many) are in prime locations.To be safe, I'd make some reservations. The Oregon Coast can be a tough ticket in the summer. If not, you may get lucky, but you will get left-overs.Don't know your style, but Spokane to Cannon Beach is a long hike for one day...at least for us. We are mossiers.Have a good trip.

Harris Beach State Park in Brookings is also very nice.You would not get a lot of scenery on I5, but 99W is nice, and there are plenty of little towns on the way.

We really enjoyed the Evergreen Aviation museum at McMinnville Oregon. We spent 1 & 1/2 days there & could have spent more time. There is a very nice RV park right next door - Stone Village - there is a paved walking path between the park & the museum.The Sea Lion caverns was also a very interesting stop.In Lincoln City you can make your own blown glass fishing float.We wanted to do the Rogue River jet boat tour but the river was flooding when we went through in spring of 2012 so that will have to wait for another trip.Walk some beaches & look for agates. At Charleston ( near Coos Bay) Chuck's Seafood shop sells excellent smoked salmon & tuna.Stop at Mo's in Lincoln City for excellent clam chowder.

have you made reservations yet?i know that Oregon's coastal state parks' campsites are gone quickly for summer reservations.you may not find a lot to choose from at this point.

Harris Beach is beautiful. There is Also Bullards Beach just before you get to Bandon. Bandon is a quaint little town with lots to see. The Ocean drive in Bandon is quite spectacular. But you best make reservations at any Oregon State Park because they fill up rather quickly. It might even be too late already. "Winchester Bay" has a lot of RV sights The city of Reedsport is kind of ugly but Winchester is just a mile or so down the road and is very pretty. You guys make sure to have a fun trip.When you go through Coos Bay make sure to stop and take in Shore Acres. Spectacular views of the Ocean and a pretty little ride.

Fort Stevens state park. Netarts bay RV park, Salmon harbor at Winchester bay, Brookings harbor are probably the best places for ocean views. Any of the state parks will be great for experiencing the coast. Canon beach is really a tourist and speed trap. Most seasoned campers avoid the north coast except Ft Stevens and Netarts Bay areas.

Agree But lets not forget Harris Beach for a great view

Cannon Beach RV is a great little park and there is a safe walk path to town under 101 which is nice. Since it's private, you will probably have more luck getting reservations there for the summer than you will at the state parks!
