Oregon, Washington Coastal Bugs

Hi all.
House closes on Monday the 16th, and we will be off on our full timing adventure.
Headed to Harris Beach, then North up the coast. Looked on Google but all I could find is generalized information.
Do we have to worry about midgies and mosquitos on the Coast at the end of March, through end of April? Anything else we need to be aware of or watch out for?
Thanks everyone. Safe travels!

Shouldn't have trouble with mosquitos. They won't be able to bite thru your rain gear.
:B They might even think you're kidding.
  • North up the coast? Oh my. I had heard that the mosquitoes have been thick in and around Bandon from the environmental effects from the (mitigation measures from the) golf courses.

The only coastal SP in Oregon I have ever had an issues with mosquito's is Ft. Stevens. I think it is worth dealing with to see Battery Russell and the Peter Iredale.
  • Probably not on the Wa. coast in March. Should be enough rain that it drowns what few there are of them mid-flight.
  • We just got back from camping on the Oregon coast, including Harris Beach.
saw 1 mosquito in the entire week.
and maybe a couple of midgies.
bugs were not a concern but it might be different in the spring or summer.
  • It's been an unusually warm winter so mosquitoes maybe an issue. Many of the State Parks spray but some don't - I suspect a quick phone call to the Park will give you better info.
