Your OP asks if you can register your RV in New Mexico but "dock" (store) it in Idaho. That is different than John Kerry who registers AND docks his boat in Rhode Island. If he were to dock his boat in Massachusetts, then your analogy would be correct.
Per the New Mexico MVD you must show 2 proofs of residency in order to register a vehicle in New Mexico. MVD
