Through the roof?
Unemployment numbers are claimed anywhere between 14 and 24%. That is not really so bad considering the situation.
Remember many of these "unemployed" are really just on a leave while the businesses are shut down (hopefully they all start back up one day, but some will not). They have jobs, but the paycheck is cut back some. When the business opens they automatically have a job to go back to. This is a little different than really being unemployed, though they still can apply for unemployment benefits and get a paycheck. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more than if they were working.
My relative is one of those on "leave". He made a LOT of money, but was offered a reduced salary and able to keep full insurance benefits if he took time off. He is free to take another job and really increase his normal income, or to just enjoy life. His reduced salary is still plenty to pay bills and have enough left over for playtime. He will go back to work at some point with same company.
He has money to go buy an RV if he wants to go RVing.
He never had enough time before to justify owning an RV, but now he does...
Many of the people who lost their jobs completely never were in the income bracket to go buy new RVs anyway. For those that are it is playtime!
I'm not really surprised that RV sales are up.
