Yeah, got that. My reply was in response to that opinion- the person was defending himself against an attack, not some intentional and malicious act of bravado as you call it.
I don't recall the OP saying anything about the person walking back and forth intentionally antagonizing the dog. That was a big stretch assumption, but most like myself probably figured it was just to make a point, which is fine- as long as it doesn't attempt to present as fact.

If someone wants to speculate about items or even change the premise of the situation to make a point, no big deal. After all this is a discussion forum.
It's okay to make related or even unrelated points (and is quite common), but that doesn't change the actual situation. As long as we're clear on that point, you (or anyone eles) are free to express your opinion as you please ;)
