- AmericalVetteExplorerWow - Saw the exact same thing in late summer here in MO. No way of knowing but wonder if it was the same people?
- rockhillmanorExplorerAs kind as you were you need to beware that not is all what it seems to be.
I always try to find the good in everything. But. Full-timing over the past years I have seen way TOO many instances of this same scenario. As noted in the above post. There are MANY of the scammers out there getting gas, money and/or food for free.
They are just pan handlers preying on our instinct to help other RV'ers. And they are finding it very rewarding for themselves.
Just last week I ran into 2 more of them. One even claiming he was trying to get his mother to a cancer treatment center after I said no his first request for gas money. :R - PadlinExplorerAnd we ran into the same folks in Durango CO.
- B_O__PlentyExplorer IISaw the same people for several days working the Wal-Mart and the truck stop in Benson AZ. Mom would drag the little kid with her to add to the effect...what a way to make a living..

Unfortunately, you are correct. I also have seen many in a similar situation. It is nice to help people, especially this time of year.
And the scammers know it.
I don't mind helping but, I'm very cautious. - mbrowerExplorerI always offer to call the police who can put them in touch with local charities that would be more than happy to help with their needs.
- RoyBExplorer III would have pitched in as well Gale... It is just our way wanting to help anyone in need of help...
We had a guy that always came up to the car window when we pulled into this one motel in Wichita Falls TX on many of our work trips saying he was stranded in town and needed money to get to Lubbock TX. First time I gave him money... Three months later I figured out it was the same guy... I followed him home on this trip without him knowing about it... As luck would have three months later same thing and I got to call him by his name and told him I knew where he lived haha... The crew guys I had with me said "Man you were hard on that guy" haha...
I bet he made alot of money doing this...
Roy Ken - midnightsadieExplorer IIguy on Tv said he makes over $60k a year begging.
- path1ExplorerIf they have a dog I give it a treat. Not the dogs fault.
- towheadExplorerA young woman with tears in her eyes hit me up for money at a Walmart in Hot Springs. 2 weeks later the same woman tried again at a Golden Corral in Conway just off I40. Man o man did my wife blister her ears.
