I understand and agree with your position.
You get more flies with sugar. The wording of your note almost invites the one finger salute from the light owner.
A note starting with "We would appreciate it if ......... and ending with "stop by site number ## for a cup of coffee...." would have worked much better.
I am not saying that the light person is right, or being real nice is going to be easy, but the goal is to get the lights shut down, isn't it?
