Depending on the character of the CG I can put up tacky lights with the worst of them. Might even forget to turn something off. Usually we are in stealth mode. The only light left on might be a kerosene old fashioned lantern so that we might see any critters that come around.
I empathise with the OP. Dead Horse Point SP, UT. You go there for the night sky as much as the canyons. Had one next to me lit up like a cruise ship.
