Outside stereo speakers

Realistically your best bet for troubleshooting is substitute other speakers for the ones you are concerned about.

Also note that amplifiers installed in most stereo/hifi gear have extra gain and do not need full volume position to produce full power. In other words, the signal may distort at far less than full volume position. I've had some systems reach full potential at less than 12 o'clock volume position. The bottom line-is the system developing all the rated power before distortion?

Like everything else, there are quality differences between brands & models. I can tell you one set of "Outdoor" speakers to avoid - the Pyle PLMR24. While described as "3 way" speakers rated at 200 watts, they are not worth the trouble of hooking them up, and if you fed 200 watts into them, they would explode!

And your point is?

I would prefer people did not take barking dogs, screaming kids, loud motorcycles, etc etc to campgrounds either.

I hope he's up to speed about camping courtesy and noise. I'm going under the assumption he is, and is operating the equipment in location where disturbance isn't an issue.

One thing I briefly checked was the Magnadyne owners manual. No mention of output power anywhere. My guess it is very limited. You could just be up against the wall of only a few watts per channel output, somewhat inefficient speakers, and the great outdoors soaking up the sound.

Funny that you mention that. They are Pyle PLM24, or should I just call them PILE OF ?

As audio nut going way back, the biggest problem with sound of recorded music is the speaker vs. room interactions. Peaks, nulls, in almost any normal sized room you're fighting a losing battle. This is the elephant in the room.

If you really want to hear recorded music at it's best-try listening outdoors. A couple decent old school bookshelf loudspeakers and a car audio amp which produces 100 watts per channel of real output. You may need to EQ up the bass a bit because the outdoors sucks it out.

It is as close to perfect as you're going to get w/ audio-and that includes systems costing thousands $ but located in typical sized rooms.

Again!! This is not to pollute campgrounds with unwanted sound, or even remote locations where people may be present. This is for places you know you're alone for miles.

Before the "Sound Patrol" gang up here. I camp only in "Primitive" camping areas. My nearest neighbor is usually no less than 1/2 mile away & usually more. I've gone a week sometimes without seeing another human being. Besides, I need the higher volume on my stereo to drown out my YELLOW generator. :p :W

The Magnadyne is a very low power unit. The inside cheep speakers do not need much power. If you go with a higher quality speakers it takes more power to drive them to get more volume.

Thank you, I couldn't find any info on the Magnadyne either, aside from the owners manual & it doesn't go into any information regarding output or speaker configuration.
