Outside television - can't get a movie.

We have the typical set-up in which a television can be hung on the outside of the trailer. I tried to hook it up to let the kids watch a movie with their friends, and I can't get it to work to save my life. I got the signal from the antenna, but couldn't get anything from the DVD player. I seem to be having the same problem for the bedroom tv. Am I missing something? Is the DVD player only hooked up to the main television? Is there something else I should be doing to get this to work? Any input you can provide is welcome!

Thanks!

  • I have a dvd/combo 12vt unit that can get Netflix via smart phone and mini hdmi cable. My phone has unlimited data plan. If not don't try this method at all.
  • Cheap as well as small. I bought a very small sony Blue Ray player that fits in the small cubby hole by the TV. Check Best Buy too. And as others have said, one DVD services one TV.
  • I have tv/dvd/cd combo in the camper. You must put a movie on HMTDL (might have gotten that wrong) or Video. So on the remote, hit Source, then hit the HMTDL or Video or DVD if it says it and the movie should play. then if you want to watch regular old tv again, hit Source, then hit TV and regular stations come on again.
  • I bought TV/DVD combos. We'll see how it works out in the long run...
  • If its a real issue, you can get a switch box that allows you to take the output from the DVD player and send it to a TV of your choice by pressing a button on the front of it. This would require routing cables from the DVD to the switch and then cables from the switch to each TV location.

As mentioned above, a cheaper solution is to by the second DVD player. You also gain the abilty to watch different movies on different TV's.

That's what I wondered, but I hoped it wasn't true. We wire it for television but not movies...bummer!

DVD players are very cheap at WALMART... $25 or so... Just plug in the RED-WHITE-YELLOW cables...

This is what we do for the other TVs...
