As you can see by my tagline, we are travelers and not sitters(although lately...) and our first overlander was the ever popular(out here on the left coast) VW Type 2. We could be out of sight in the CA deserts for a week or two at a time with our kids. Usually we were rockhounding and those old miners wandered all over deserts and discovered some useless stuff like bacon agate, tourmaline, blue holly and even rainbow obsidian. Somehow their finds were preserved either by themselves or their sponsors and are out there to this day.
If I were 55 instead of 77, I think we would be out there trying to get from Tiera del Fuego to Prudhoe Bay.
