"P" tire designation vs. "LT"
I bought a new Ram 1500 in 2011 that came with Goodyear Wrangler HP tires. The tires are P275/60R20 and I have only 15k miles on them. My question has to do with the "P" designation which I understand...

My opinion is that as long as the tires are well within the weight rating of your truck when loaded, and as long as the rig handles well on the road, then I would keep them until ready to be replaced. I would keep them aired up to near or at the max sidewall pressure for stiffness when towing and keep an eye on the tread to make sure you are not over pressuring them and causing undo wear.
I do not think you would be unsafe using the stock tires as long as handling is good.
