Hope y'all understand that I don't dispute the ticket the car that hit this trailer got. I do realize/know that one has to be prepared at all times for the unexpected, and if one hits a clearly visible object in the road, that means a ticket.
But I would point out that it's too soon to tell whether the driver of the truck/trailer will get ticketed, too- and/or how responsibility for the damage will be allocated. While the woman that hit them "should have been more attentive", they themselves shouldn't have stopped in the lane to begin with. Proximate cause in liability cases is often divided.
As stated in the article, the investigation is ongoing, and the paint marking the position of those wheels does NOT bode well for the outcome being in the immovable object's favor.
