O.K., y'all, I'm ready to get jumped on here if I'm wrong, but...is it possible this guy stopped right in the lane on a two lane highway to "check his hitch", never thinking for a moment he might get ...

My oh my, why get your shorts in a wad… your right there is a lot not known and on the TV news report they say the couple pulled to the side of the road…
But actually there is a lot of picture evidence that they didn’t… all 6 wheel of the combo unit are still on the roadway and aligned pretty straight except for the camper body… it also appears the combo unit itself didn’t move very much from the accident (except for the egg body getting knocked off its chassis)…
I believe that because the left rear of the Toyota truck had damage to the left rear fender and it appears the red shattered taillight lens is on the ground still just a little behind the truck as it sits on the roadway… sure it’s hard to say for sure but that’s how it looks to me… also the tongue looks detached but was that form the accident or the hitch problem, or is it even detached with the crash being enough to knock the wheel off it might just look that way…
Yep there are a lot of assumptions in threads like this but the discussion brings out thoughts and opinions that someone might find interesting or thought provoking and that can’t be all bad…
Of course none of us know why…
why were they not completely off the road somewhere safe…
why didn’t the other driver see them and avoid hitting them…
