According to the video at 17 seconds the couple had pulled off the side of the road. One thing that ticks me off is all the "experts" who always know all the facts when they have absolutely no clue and are so ready to condem someone that they know absolutely nothing about.

Normally I would agree with your assessment of people not knowing all the facts. And yes the newscaster in the video does say they pulled off to the side of the road. However, in this case we have some pretty conclusive video of the crash scene which even shows orange spray paint marking exactly where the tires came to rest after impact. The truck and trailer both are clearly fully in the traffic lane and fully blocking said traffic lane. This leaves us with one of three possible scenarios. One, they in fact pulled onto the gravel shoulder. The car that hit them drifted onto the gravel shoulder and struck the truck and trailer and knocked them both into the traffic lane. This scenario doesn't seem likely and the video of the scene does not support it. Scenario number two is the truck and trailer pulled off the side of the road and the accident occurred there. The police then arrived and moved the truck and trailer back on to the road and then for some reason used orange paint to mark the locations of the tires where they placed them. Again, no chance this happened as it doesn't make sense at all. Or scenario number three the truck and trailer were stopped completely blocking the traffic lane and then were struck by the other car. In my expert opinion, that is what happened. And yes I am an expert in traffic accident investigations.
