You are putting a lot of emphasis on the orange paint. You do realize that the paint is marking the FRP, Final Resting Place, and in no way indicates where the vehicles were before impact?
I'm getting ready to go camping now but when I get back next week and if this thread is not closed I will run by the SO and get a copy of the crash report.
However if I quote directly from the report I bet there will still be some to argue with the facts!!!!
That would be MOST welcome/helpful. Hope you're successful!
Per my emphasis on the orange paint:
The presence of those marks is some of the only hard evidence available to us so far- hence my interest in them. They are of course marking the "final resting place" of the wheels, but the half-on/off position of the knocked-off trailer body seems to me to indicate that the truck/trailer frames were not dislocated by the impact. (This combined with the evidently undisturbed shoulder gravel, at least so far as can be seen in the pics.)
Looking forward to your report of the report...
