A riding lawn mower with a tow ball on the back. :B And even that may have trouble moving over 2 tons.
I have a John Deere mower-tractor -- 700 series. I wanted to put the ball on the back of the mower (like I did on my smaller 100 series John Deere) Unfortunately, the metal the ball sits on is too soft. The weight of the trailer began to bend the frame. Luckly I had not put full weight on the mower, so no damage done. My 100 series tows my utility trailer just fine (5x8 foot trailer), but it's not got enough 'umph' to move the trailer (I tried). It's support is much stronger. The 100 is a belt driven drive, the 700 is a gear driven drive. On the 100, the belt just can't move it.
So .... moral of the story .... if you're going to use a lawn mower (which may work), be certain the weight of the trailer is not too much for the strength of the mower frame!
