To begin with parking regulations other than Interstate and State Highways are controlled by local governments so this is not "California" that is doing this. Such parking regulations are not that unusual in cities throughout the US. There are numerous reasons that communities have to resort to them. Some of these areas have narrow streets with limited parking and a large RV can be an obstruction. I have seen some places where trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, and boats stay parked on the street in the same spot for weeks and months at a time. In these cases they can be hazardous and in most cities it would be illegal. Much of California unlike many other states has fairly moderate weather. As such we attract quite a few people who have no where to live other than a car or RV (that is if they are lucky). A growing problem in some communities are these RV's being parked and camped in and not always just overnight. I also understand that regulations to address the issues can and sometimes do become a little too heavy handed. Instead of ranting about it we should be discussing a solution that is fair and just for everyone.
As far as bashing California goes, there is plenty wrong here. Of course there is plenty wrong anywhere you go. I just don't understand why all these people that hate this place so much keep coming here.
