I understand that in Mexico the truckers turn on their left signal to let you know that it is safe to pass. We in the US. ought to start doing that.

I still use the old school curtsey of flashing my lights for a vehicle
to come back in, few OTR drivers are allowed to do this anymore.
It is my understanding that company lawyers and insurance companies
have made them stop, for fear of litigation in case of an accident.
