Passport America

We went cross country for two months last May/June and used PA extensively. It paid for itself the second night of the trip. We consistently found decent CG's/RV parks with hook ups for $14-$15 a night. Hands down it is the best deal on discount accommodations we have ever encountered. While many PA facilities only offer the 50% discount Sunday thru Thursday many give it 7 days a week. After less than a year we are hundreds of dollars ahead.

We have had PA for 4 years now. Well worth the money. We are currently in a park paying $12 for a FHU site.

Been using PPA for years, always more than pays for itself and we have stumbled across a number of nice, small mom & pop parks we might have missed. Sometimes PPA parks are nice, sometimes bare bones, but when I can stay just off the interstate with a full hook-up for $12 a night who cares about amenities.

As far as restrictions go, the whole point is to give the parks a chance to sell spaces during slow periods, why would you expect them to offer a discount when they are busy?

Yes. We bought on line while in Florida last winter, they send a email to print a confirmation. Used it on our way back to Iowa, saved more than double what we paid. Just renewed.

We've had it for years, and never failed to make our money back after the 1st or 2nd stay.
Even with the restrictions, we search out PPA CG's first, with over 1900 CG's, we rarely have a problem finding one where we are.

Just purchased a membership today because the park we are staying at accepts it. Price for our 5 day stay without ppa = $195 price with ppa $131... already paid for itself on the first day.

My vote goes for PPA, even with the restrictions. True, some are out of the way and I like to stay fairly near the highway I am traveling on. But, I have used it many, many times and have recouped my Lifetime Membership Fee several years back.

no, but that's likely to be a minority POV. we dropped it after 1-yr because we found that their parks were not where we were at the end of the day and we didn't want our travel plans to be controlled by PPA.

if you have a particular route planned I suggest you check their website to see if there are any parks along your planned route and what the restrictions are. PPA parks sometimes restrict their discount to a small number of sites on particular days of the week during certain months. the membership directory and the website should have that information.

Oh absolutely. Use it a couple of times and its paid for.

We have not found it useful, the 2 parks we went to did not accept Passport America during the travel months. So we will not be renewing. What good is it if the parks can decide not to accept it during the travel season. Who is going to be camping in SD & MT in the winter?
