Lost of interesting ideas!
My initial attempts were interrupted by several days of rain and then pulling a muscle in my back - sigh...
I did find out a few things in the nasty weather:
Solar lamps don't work well on rainy days (well duh!)
A five foot lightweight PVC "tower" must be staked or have a heavy base.
A five foot lightweight PVC "tower" acts like a catapult when it falls.
(The solar light didn't quite make it over the fence behind us).
My best location on this site for a "floor lamp" is in a puddle.
Being unconvinced, and y'all made some good arguments for it, that 120Vs and wet places isn't scary, I'm now looking at 12V powered lighting. Wally World had some LED "driving lights" for $20 that might be bright enuf (but $20???).
Today is sunny so I must do awning waterproofing (something else I found out in the nasty weather).
