paying for a new RV before delivery

There is NO way I would pay in full until the PDI is complete to YOUR satisfaction...

4 new trailers over the years...NEVER paid in full or signed the finals until after my inspection and the PDI.

The $1000 deposit is normal and should be the end of it.

No way. Inspect it, do a thorough PDI, and have them fix any problems. THEN shell out the $$$. Remember, they want your money, so they have to do what you want.

We are in the process of purchasing a new Sandpiper 360 PDEK and the dealer, 3 hours away, wanted to fed ex me the paperwork to sign before I picked it up. As others have said the answer was no. We are financing our new unit and my credit union sent me the check with specific instructions, they get check after a thorough PDI is done and everything is 100% and if they don't want to do business this way to walk and find another dealer. Once they have your money what is their incentive to make everything satisfactory to you.

Years ago I bought one with a personal check and I was out of state so they said it would take 5 days for the check to clear the bank. I kept back 10,000 and used a credit card after the PDI and my satisfaction. This last time, out of state again, I use a check from my line of credit because that only takes a few minutes to clear the bank.

I would not give them money before everything was to my satisfaction.

If it was close to the month, that might explain why they're asking. But like the others, no way I would pay for something I cant home. I'd be curious why that request.

Best deal I got was from a dealer that was 300 miles away. The whole deal was discussed over the phone. No deposit or anything, just word of mouth since we couldn't shake hands on the phone. I had a trade and when we showed up he directed us to our new 5'er that was inside the building. He showed us around the unit and pointed out what we needed to know then left us to look it over and said when we get done we could come into the office an sign the papers. After the whole deal was done I walked him thru our trade and answered his questions. It all was done on trust.

No way would I pay for something site unseen. Some of these dealers really play on peoples emotions.

Had the same experience with that large Orlando dealer. Required a certified check before delivery. Worked out ok but had the vin number and signed contract before giving them the check.

No way and for all the reasons others have listed.
Also, I've never had a dealer try such a thing.
