$20.00 seems high to me from seeing costs of other places. I have to consider myself very lucky though because the route I take for 95%of my camping trips I have a truck stop that let's you dump for free, a forest service site for free and I also have a sewer cleanout at my business that I can use when needed.

There are still a few gems out there. On 99W in Newberg, Oregon the public works dept has a dump station for $1 (includes water for flushing/cleaning the slinky). It's on the 'honor system'. You put a dollar in the slot of the box near the spigot.

Since it is a gated yard, dumping is limited to weekday business hours:

This past year I had occasion to camp in in laws driveway for extended periods of time while doing Hospice care. Found a very agreeable campground owner that said I could use the dump site for free, but I dropped him a 10 dollar bill in the office mailslot each time because it was the right thing to do. Ten dollars every eight nine days is not going to break the bank, and to find a cheaper place at 50 cent per mile gas is not usefull planning

Thanks for the link, Downtheroad. I noticed it looked like it was last updated in 2008, but it does help. Also like the idea of installing a dump station on our own property, if it's legal (we live in town).

With our last trip we found most of the places to dump were included with the $6-7 campsite fee and quite a few places where the dump was free if you bought fuel, including a 7-Eleven store that had great fuel prices.

When I get home from a trip I usually stop by a Love's to dump. It used to be free and when it was I'd dump and top off the gas tanks at the same time. Now they charge $5 so I pay and dump but don't top off the gas tanks. (I can usually find cheaper gas close to home.) I'm in the process of remodeling my sticks-n-bricks home so I'm also having an RV dump installed to avoid inconvenience of driving by Love's and paying the $5 on the way home. I'm sure Love's won't miss me all that much, but if enough of us do something similar then just might.

Sorry I didn't get them confused with another park. Apparently someone gave me the wrong price the day before when I called. Then she didn't have to say she "could" charge me for a nights stay instead of the $20. I wasn't rude to her. I told her what I was quoted the day before.

Another park in the area said I could dump for free but I'd have to unhook the toad. He said he was just being "neighborly" to let me do it for nothing. I figured it was worth $10 to not unhook. I had passed him by when I went to the other park so he wasn't along my route anymore.

Didn't care for her attitude. It was a quick and easy $20 for them.

well if a person could find a way to make poop valuable then they would pay you to come dump,,, hows that for capitalism.

you could allways container it up in drums and ship it to your tax agency, and tell them here is your 5,, 10 ,, or 15 % of what comes out that end to, sorry don't have it in the form of cash so you will have to take the raw product.

We paid $5.00 to dump at Merrill NFS Campground.

The envelope said make checks payable to the "Lassen County College fund."

We understood all proceeds were to help some non-state funded local college activities.
