It is true that most rodent baits makes them thirsty because they are bleeding. Same with humans that are bleeding heavily. Thirst is the body's reaction to blood loss to replace fluids.
HOWEVER, the rodents very rarely make it outside to water. By the time they get thirsty it usually too late for moving around much and they die inside.
The thirst and then go outside is marketing from Decon and others.
