My personal observation, FWIW. Put 3 small bowls of peppermint oil in the toyhauler when winterizing. Made wicks from 3x3" cotton gauze pads, 3-4 tablespoons p.oil per bowl. One in garage, one in galley, one in tunnel.Began de-winterizing this week and 1st thing I checked was for vermin in the traps and any "leavings" they might have left for me to pick up. NOTHING! Not a single sign of mice, rats, squirrels. Even the dead bugs I've found in past years were much fewer than before.Gawd, that stuff is expensive - but well worth it! DW paid ~$50 for a 16- or 20-ounce bottle. Think I can get 3-5 more years out of it...judging by what's left in the little bowls I used I don't need to use more than a 1-2 tablespoons p.oil per bowl. I'll still put out the spring & glue traps too, just in case.

I'm glad it worked for you. We tried it this year and when we checked last weekend, yes we had mouse poop in the trailer, even on the paper plate that i had the bowl with the oil and cotton balls sitting on. I will say that it wasn't as bad as last year, and the trailer smells nice. We haven't had any luck keeping them out completely over the winter. :)

Glad it seems to work for you. It seems to work for some but not others. But you can't prove a negative. You did not see any elephants inside either so it must work against them too. :)

I,ve used PP in my boats and MH all siting in a open pole bldg, meny years now ,no mice. it works . I just today gave a extra few drops. just in case.

I had mice last year. Bought the pure peppermint oil and used with the cotton balls. So far no mice this year.

I just gather up the cotton balls and place them in a sandwich bag when I use the rig. I do add a few drops to each cottonball every week or so to keep the smell strong.

Not sure if I've just been lucky or if it really works, only time will tell, but it leaves a nice smell in the rig.

True. I do the exact same thing. But replace the oil with just cleaning everything out before I put it away. :) Never a rodent problem.

All these remedies work until they don't, including mine.

yup the key is 100% pure. Most that are sold in stores and online are NOT.

I found health food stores are the only ones that carry the real stuff. You have to READ the label.

I got rid of a whole yard of gophers that moved in the day I listed my house.:S Put the peppermint down all the holes and thank god they high tailed it out of my yard before the first prospective buyer showed up!!

I have used PURE Peppermint Oil for 10 years straight, 9/10 years no mouse poop or mouse urine smell. The one year must have been a mouse with a plugged nose, as I did find 3 little poops. LOL. It works VERY well for me.

I learned it has to be PURE PEPPERMINT oil. Some of the stuff you find is not PURE... I'm sure that is what makes the cost go up... Here locally only WEGMAN's carry the pure stuff...

I ordered mine from AMAZON...

When we are out in the woods we carry alot of cotton balls soaked in pure peppermint oil sealed up in a zip lock bag... Lasts a long time being sealed up and ready to use...

I'd much better smell the peppermint verses the strong moth ball smells.

Works well for me as well...
