The price range I saw posted was $1950 to $2295 but think they just came out in 2012 are still leading edge technology even today I gathered.
The fact that Phonak Bolero Q pair work as one hearing aid blew my mind and they self adjust kind of like an automatic transmission can learn your typical shift points and make them the default setting over time. Like the volume level is set in the office with you in front of a computer so you can cope with hearing sounds like crunching paper. I went with the settings the computer selected because I knew the brain would adjust to hearing these new sounds over time and I am glad I did. If I increase the volume by 2 clicks each day then over time it will start each day at a higher volume then the first day default setting.
Say if you are driving down the road and talking with someone in the car the pair can sense the sounds coming from the window side contains no speech but just noise but the other side contains speech. Then it will port the speech sensing hearing aid signal over to the other aid instead of it reproducing the noise that aid is actually picking up.
This dynamic switching of mikes (four total)so that both ears hear the best sound containing speech is awesome. You can be setting in a restaurant and literally sense you are hearing from different directions as conversations are detected.
Now these are not power aids like some require but they are quite powerful. IF they have a model that can deal with your hearing loss I expect most will be pleased with these Phonak Bolera Q model. This is the third fitting I have had over the last 25 years. The first one was just for the right ear and it was In
The Ear model. With my arthritis it was hard to get it out. The sound was mechanical sounding so since at that point the left ear was quite well I went unaided for like 18 years.
Since the Phonak Bolera Q series worked after setting in 3 foot of water in a test I read I plan to put these in and wear them until bed time. I will cover my head when possible but I do not have to live in fear of loosing the use of the aids for a couple days if caught in a rain.
There may be better aids out there (reviews I read did not state there are better in my case) so they may not be the magic bullet of hearing aids for you. Knowing what I know now I would seek out an office that was fitting the Phonak Bolero Q.
