Please do not walk on sand dunes

With the hurricanes we have had, I just need to get this off my chest. Protect the sand dunes. They are there for a reason. Thank you.

Can't get any more parochial than that.

Title just said "sand dunes." Post didn't give any location or reason.
  • Thank you, riven1950. Yes my question was serious. I am amazed as the stupidity of adults that don't know why the sand dunes are there. Guess they are the same ones that walk all over them and allow their children to walk all over them.

We had a home in Oceanlakes Family Campround and live full time there for 5 years. I cringed when I saw this happening, as I did when people left plastic cups, spoons, emptuy lotion bottles, etc behind. I would always pick up their mess and threw it in the trash. Do these people not realize when high tide comes in this **** goes into the ocean and do harm to the fish.

My blood is boiling that these comments just don't get it and don't care. Instead of thinking, yeah I shouldn't do that, they make light of it.
  • Not sure if the question was serious or not but the reason is that walking on the dunes will keep grasses etc from growing, which help with erosion. Also walking creates paths which wear down the dunes and creates a breach in case of storm surge. Our town has a 50 or 100 dollar fine for walkng across dunes where there is no walkway. Beach grass takes years to establish.

Guess you people don't care about protecting the camprounds. Fine.
