polarized license plate covers

I'm sure someone here will be able to do the math on this one, your 40 feet from the intersection, and moving at 40MPH, it might take you 1 second of reaction time as you see the light turn yellow, now what, do you slam on your breaks after that 1 second delay and now your even closer to the intersection, and you find yourself stopped half way out in the middle of the intersection, and now everyone that has the green light wants to move, but your blocking the intersection, and their honking their horns at you as you walk back to try and get every one behind you to back up, or you drive through the intersection on a yellow light ? again I'm not saying blow through the red lights
