Pondering tank level indicator lights

I was just thinking......if moisture can cause a faulty reading on the tank level indicator lights, why not using some Damp Rid down the tank? Not the whole bucket but some....would it work?? I am thinking about trying it-next time I get a chance to buy some Damp Rid. Any thoughts?

  • 100% with the previous 2 posters. EVIL!
When mine is my new to me DP didn't work right, I bought and installed seelevel sensors. They worked good for 2 years and stopped. So I bought new sensors and swapped em out (not an easy chore) and the new ones read same like the old ones, black tank is always 35% when it is empty...

    So I give up.
  • The sooner you understand this, the sooner you can relax and enjoy the RV.
Tank level indicators were designed by an evil mind. EVIL. Their only purpose is to frustrate RV owners who insist on continuing their quest to make them work properly.
Just get in to the routine of knowing how many days you can go to fill the black, how many days it takes to fill the gray and just use the calender method to calculate the dump routine. Then you spend your time enjoying the RV.
  • Save your money and agravation. I doubt many of us with a trailer older than 5 years still have working lights we can depend on. And, I'll bet most of us don't look at them anymore anyhow. They are designed to help sell trailers to first-time buyers, I'm convinced. I thought I would be an exception, because mine still worked pretty good after 3 years. I spent the extra time flushing and rinsing, but then they finally went fubar. They still work, just not accurate. The only one I still trust a little is the battery inidcator.

When you can see the water approaching the bottom of the toilet valve, it's time to dump the black. When the water starts coming up in the shower, it's time to dump the gray. When the FW tank pump starts to groan loudly, it's time to add water. I don't know if I look at my lights at all last year.

I would NOT put that stuff in ANY RV tank!!
  • Chemically I am not sure if I would want to do that. HEre is the clicky and am not sure if the chemical make up would be a good mix if you use any other chemicals...

    Damp Rid Website

Keeping the tanks clean from rinsing action is the best method.

Money will just gum up the works. It will take too long to disintigrate . It is the only time that money lasts longer than you want it to.

  • This is a joke, right? If it works, you would never have to empty your holding tanks again. On the other hand, you could never fill the fresh water tank. Interesting idea.
