Port St Lucie

I don't know if this is the right place to ask. I am looking for a home base to buy a home and heard Port St Lucie is a nice place. So if anyone has experience in the area I would appreciate your input. If someone can recommend a few nice area it would be helpful. Thank you.
  • My brother lives out at the Windmill I which is not a bad area. Home sales were pretty much a buyers market last year. Parents lived in the Savannas some years ago off US1 which was a nice manufactured home community. Stuart also has some very nice areas.
  • I live in PSL east of US 1 just off PSL Blvd. We moved back here 3 years ago from Northern Arizona and found a great valued home. It is RV friendly, meaning they can be parked at home. There is no downtown area if that's the kind of thing you like. The real estate taxes are reasonable and all in all we like it fine. If you have children in school then I would look elsewhere. The schools are below par. Martin county to the south and Indian River county schools to the north have better schools. Do a search of the City-Data site and you will find out all you need to know to make an informed decision.
  • My folks live there and like it. I found it nothing but massive urban sprawl, busy, and hot. Just wait until you get a direct hit hurricane and not have water or electric for a week or two during the summer. If you like beaches, you are very close and there are many nice ones.
  • What exactly are you looking for? Ocean, river, good schools, shopping, easy access to highways? Manufactured homes or townhouse, condo or regular home? Give us some more info and maybe we can guide you better.
  • Come a little way north to the Palm Bay, Melbourne area. Schools are A rated, taxes reasonable, all the major stores and restaurants (and malls). Have been here 12 years and love it. Oh and 10 minutes to the beach.
