I don't want to hijack this thread, but how do you guys like your porta botes ?
Great. Let's us fish and get out on the water when we camp, where before we always had to fish from the shore. Easy to put together (about 10-15 minutes to assemble and fully load). Weighs about 75 lbs when folded. Seats, transom, trolling motor and all fishing gear go in a big duffel when travelling.
Au Contraire, Mon General!
I have had a Porta Bote since 2009, and it always takes AT LEAST 45 minutes to assemble. Of course, if I could assemble it in a closed building where no one else could see me, then it would take about 10 or 15 minutes. I have never failed to accumulate an audience full of questions.
Yes, that is true!!
I'm often putting it in early in the morning and no one is around. But I agree that when putting in or taking out, it ALWAYS draws and audience. I've always thought that Porta-bote should provide about 100 pamphlets with each bote purchased, so we could just pass them out, instead of continually answering questions.
I used to get questions even when I just had it folded and attached to the side of my TT, but now everyone just seems to think it is a paddleboard.
