Since most folks just turn the grill up high and start cooking, you can remove the grill regulator and make a new connection that will allow you to use the low pressure side of your on-board LP tank. If you want to use the grill as built there are adapters that will allow you to put a connection between the tank and the regulator and you can run a high pressure line from there to where the grill is located.
Your suggestion would work if and only if the built in regulator is accessible and I could find someone willing to lie underneath a b van to make the modification .
One had to wonder why the mfg’s would put a non workable gas quick connect on the RV. Duh .
