Here is my method. You shop for the item you want to get a baseline price. In this example a generator. You find an ad for a generator that cost 2x the cost of the one you want. You Tell your wife that you have bad news that your current generator is getting old and you will need a backup generator. You show her the ad for the overpriced generator. You wait about a week and you buy the generator you really want. You tell you wife you have good news, that you found a generator for half price. You wanted to tell her first but they only had one and you did not want to miss out on the great price. - bigred1cavExplorer

When you buy the second one to parallel it be sure to post your address so we can send your widow flowers. And an offer on the generators.
lmao - Kayteg1Explorer IIMy wife never checks back shelves in refrigerator, so when I want to hide anniversary gift, this is where it goes.
Don't think that would work with generator thought. - cjosephExplorerThis is the reason I keep a REALLY messy basement.
She doesn't go near it!
If she ever does, I am in big trouble. - hharveyExplorerHere is my method. You shop for the item you want to get a baseline price. In this example a generator. - NaioExplorer III want a spouse who will buy ME a generator!
- Canadian_RainbiExplorerA good friend of mine was an inveterate bargain hunter and tinkerer especially with things electronics. His strategy: Buy a non or poorly working stereo receiver, amplifier, DVD etc. Place it in the basement. Repair over the next few months. Find a buyer for his current system, then switch them out. When his DW asked "Where did that come from??!!!" his reply: "It's one I've had down stairs for months, I just got it working." He is my hero! :B
- wildmanbakerExplorerYou know, we dry camp a lot when boon docking and before we had a MH, we had tow trailers and used small generators for power. Granted, back then they were not very quite compared to the ones made today. But, I always asked the DW before I purchased a new generator. We would walk a lot and when we came on others using generators, we would note how noisy or quite they were. We have had several "quite" generators, and have selected on a Champion, as it is as quite, if not quitter than a Honda. The DW has never said no, as justifying the last generator was the less fuel usage compared to the on-board generator. Don't get me wrong, we still use the on-board one when and if we require AC.
- 2112Explorer IIMine would have said "oh boy, I get a new purse" and then buy matching shoes to go with it. She'll show me!
