Looking for advice on a portable generator. We just bought a used 24" Class C motorhome that does have an on board generator. I would like to get a portable one for the rare times we tailgate or boondock. My issue is that I want to store in an outside compartment which restricts me to 12" wide to slide in and 17" standing. I just want to be able to run the TV/DVD at night, water pump every once in a while, and plug in a radio and maybe Keurig in the morning. I can do without AC! Can I get by with a 1,000 watt? Also, I need to use a CPAP, I guess I will need to get a cigarette lighter invertor to power that at night, or a separate battery pack like the Duracell 600? I do not want to run a generator while sleeping. Any advice?

You need to add up all of the watts of the devices you might be using at the same time. Then choose the generator based upon the watts and your size requirements. I'm guessing a 1500 watt might serve you better.Once you know the wats you need look through the Camping World, Northern Tools, Sears, Cabellas, Bass Pro Shops or the generator manufacturer websites to locate one that meets your demension requirements.

Your Cpap is 12 volt the box on your 110 plug converts it to 12 volts get an adapter . how about the microwave ? I would just get a 2200

No you can't get by with a 1000 watt if your going to run a 1500 watt Keurig. You need to add all the items you plan on using at the same time, don't forget charging the batteries on the C.

I agree with others run the generator on the C. You need to use it or it will gum up and not work.

You won't be happy in the end with the 1000 watt as even a microwave or toaster will overload it. It's well worth it to move up to a 2K.

To deal with one of your concerns your C-Pap and virtually all C-Pap machines run on 12v. Call cpap.com and see if they have a 12v cord for yours. I got one from them for my Resperonics System One Auto. It has a power plug on the end for a cigarette lighter type socket. I mounted a socket on the side of our bed frame and found a always hot 12v wire under the bed to power it.

and switch to a passover humidifier to save on electricity if necessary.
