portable RV waste tanks
Will be needing a portable RV waste tank when we are campground hosts. Any suggestions on which one to purchase? Would appreciate pros and cons of whichever one you have used. Thanks.

I have had a 32 gallon Barkers for over 10 years now. I replaced the wheels once. It's been a good tote.
My in-laws got the Thetford with the hose that wraps over the top of the tote. You use this hose to drain your camper, then you use it to drain your tote. It is VERY messy. I hated using it. The attached single hose for filling and dumping is a mess waiting to happen. DO NOT get one like this.
My Barker has a slide valve for dumping. It has a fill hole on the top. I use the same hose to drain my trailer to the top of the tote. I then attach it to the tote slide and put the other end of the hose in the dump station. Release the valve. No mess at all. Leave the hose attached, and spray water inside the tote to flush it through the top hole.
Take this much advise, do not get the ones (whatever brand you select) that use the same hose for filling and dumping, unless you just absolutely love having your shoes covered with poo! There's no way to cut off the flow, and if the hose is lowered before you are ready, you have a mess on the ground.
Another thing, you want a tote that is bigger than your biggest holding tank. If you get a tote that is bigger than your holding tank, you will never ever run the risk of overfilling the tote and spilling on the ground and making a mess. If you drain one tank at a time, this way, you'll never have problems. If your tote is smaller than your holding tank, you're an RV Movie waiting to happen!
Like I said, we've had our Barker over 10 years. I've towed it hundreds of miles now, from camper to dump station. It's been a good one.

Just keep in mind that water weighs approx. 8 lbs per gallon.

A camp host position and no sewer hook up? They should at least furnish a honey wagon service.
